New walking maps are now available for the City of Hendersonville. Some time ago, the Partnership for Health started the process of locating walking maps in and around Hendersonville. The idea was to develop a notebook. This evolved into the idea of printing separate maps that could easily be carried along when taking the walk. Through one of its grants, the Partnership for Health was able to provide funds for the printing of several maps:
Main Street to Hyman Heights Walking Route - ( 1.48KB)
West Hendersonville Walking Route - ( 228KB)
Oklahawa Greenway - ( 840KB)
Besides a map of the walk, other information provided includes the distance, the difficulty, highlights, and any cautions about the route. The brochure is sponsored by:
- City of Hendersonville
- Council on Aging of Henderson County
- Diamond Brand Outdoors
- Henderson County Department of Public Health
- Henderson County Parks and Recreation
- Pardee Hospital
- Partnership for Health
Gary Eblen of Diamond Brand also makes the maps available on the walk he leads on the first Thursday of each month. These walks are sponsored by Walk Wise, Drive Smart, Diamond Brand Outdoors and the Healthy Aging Coalition of Henderson County.
